Meet the Newest Member of the TENCEL Denim Team
The TENCEL™ Denim team has a new hire. Dennis Hui, global business development manager for denim at Lenzing, started this month. Based in Hong Kong, Dennis is the first Lenzing Denim global representative located in Asia, and joins other global denim team members in locations like New York and the U.K.
Dennis comes to Lenzing with a solid denim background. Most recently, he was operation general manager at Hong Kong-based mill Panther Denim /Tat Fung. In addition his denim experience at Central Textiles and he also worked at DyStar, a dyestuff and chemical manufacturer.
Carved in Blue caught up with Dennis to discuss his blueblood background and his first memory of TENCEL™.
Carved in Blue: What is your background?
Dennis: I joined the denim industry in 2005, starting from yarn and denim fabric production, then moving to the garment manufacturing and laundry field. I also worked for an international dye and chemical supplier in my career. Now I am with Lenzing, as a global business development manager for the denim business.
I love denim, and I love this industry. I am blueblooded! I wish to contribute to the blue industry, to make this legendary blue a new sustainable, clean and trendy blue for humanity. Let’s spread the blue philosophy even and forever!
Carved in Blue: If you could change one thing about how the industry what would it be?
Dennis: How about recycling of every single jean.
Carved in Blue: What do you see as the future of the denim industry?
Dennis: True sustainable, close-loop recycle, trustable with story.
Carved in Blue: When was the first time you learned about TENCEL™ Lyocell?
Dennis: In 2006 – it was the first time when I had chance to participate for denim development.
Carved in Blue: What does Carved in blue mean to you?
Dennis: It is an intranet for the world denim industry and a denim directory. A wonderful platform for the latest trend and market info. An online virtual café for those blueblood guys to search, to study, to learn, to relax and to share for enriching.
