Rivet x Project Sustainability Winner Mavi Uses REFIBRA™ in Recycled Blue Collection
Turkish denim brand Mavi has won a Rivet x Project Award for Best Sustainability at the February 2023 Project trade show in Las Vegas. Rivet’s editorial team decided the awards, which are for the fall/winter 2023-24 season collections.
One of the initiatives that contributed to Mavi’s win was the label’s Recycled Blue collection that pairs TENCEL™ lyocell with REFIBRA™ technology with recycled cotton. REFIBRA™ uses cotton scraps as a portion of the inputs for lyocell production. In a closed-loop process, the cotton is mixed with wood pulp, dissolved into a liquid and then spun into fiber.
By mixing REFIBRA™ with recycled cotton, Mavi has created soft denim that has a vintage look.
