Slideshow: On the Floor at Kingpins Show New York
Last week, Kingpins Show was back on in New York. The Lenzing Denim team was on site at Pier 36’s Basketball City from July 19-20 to see the latest in denim and showcase our own innovations.
At the Lenzing booth, we showcased zero cotton and zero virgin cotton concepts. Among these collections was the collaboration we recently did with Advance Denim and Officina+39 to create denim that had a traditional look and feel with no cotton. These authentic look and dry hand feel features would make the zero cotton concept interesting also for menswear with classic denim habits.
We are also seeing an uptick of interest in our matte TENCEL™ fibers. While conventional TENCEL™ has a subtle sheen, matte TENCEL™ removes this shiny attribute to allow for more aesthetic options. Initially when these fibers launched, they were used for lighter weight fabrics, but now we see them being integrated into coarser constructions.
Overall business is still soft in the global scale, however it is respectively better in the European Union than the U.S.
During the show, we caught up with brand partners including American Eagle Outfitters, Buckle, Gap, Madewell and SPARC Group and many more. We also joined attendees at the lively cocktail party after the first day of the show.
We also sat in on seminars that discussed sustainability and key trends for upcoming seasons.
Ahead of Kingpins Show New York, the organizers announced that trade show group Messe Frankfurt had become a shareholder, establishing a strategic partnership that will boost Kingpins’ positioning while giving Messe Frankfurt a greater presence in denim.
Outside of Kingpins, there was a lot to see in the textile world in New York last week, between Texworld, Functional Fabric Fair, Premiere Vision New York and more.
The Lenzing team also attended Soorty’s open house, which featured its HumAIn collection. And we hosted the Lenzing Apparel Showcase, inviting our brand partners to our showroom to see more than 200 examples of garments from 47 mill partners.
Here are some of the highlights of Kingpins and the New York scene last week.
