Denim mills have a key role in driving the industry’s material innovation and sustainability forward, but they don’t do it alone.

Ahead of Kingpins Show New York, Pakistan-based Soorty Enterprises gathered experts, students and its partners for its biannual SpaceD event on July 16. With the theme “Collectively Better: Shaping Future Possibilities,” the open house offered an opportunity for visitors to explore Soorty’s latest collaborations and developments in the industry.

“Soorty is collaborative by nature; we deeply value our partnerships within the denim community,” said Eda Dikmen, senior marketing and communications manager at Soorty. “SpaceD was designed to be a platform to celebrate these bonds, and it has successfully achieved that. By working closely with industry leaders and creatives from around the world who share our vision for the future, we are creating a kinder version of denim that aligns with our shared goals for sustainability and progress. Together, we strive to innovate, driven by purpose and a commitment to meaningful changes that define future possibilities.”

One of the collaborations on view was the Soorty x Lenzing Wildflower collection, which was inspired by indigo wildflowers. The joint collection celebrates circularity and both physical and emotional durability through material choices. TENCEL™ Modal with Indigo Color technology was used to create deep shades, ECOVERO™ Viscose with REFIBRA™ technology incorporated circular materials, and Soorty’s recycled cotton solutions Second Life was blended with TENCEL™ fibers. The result was fabrics with a soft hand feel and authentic denim look.

“Through their strategic supply chain partnership, Soorty and Lenzing are innovating together, demonstrating the importance of collaboration in driving sustainable advancements,” said Tuncay Kılıçkan, head of global business development for denim at Lenzing. “The SpaceD event highlights this commitment, showcasing the crucial role of unified efforts in shaping a greener future. Our joint collection focuses on the circularity and durability of denim, emphasizing our dedication to creating long-lasting, sustainable fashion.”

A Soorty collaboration with The Lycra Company uses the material manufacturer’s FitSense solution that allows for sculpting denim that is also comfortable. The technology was developed by Lycra in response to women’s difficulties in finding well-fitting jeans. Dubbed ShapeSync, Soorty’s collection using FitSense helps to hold and contour areas like the waist and thighs while also being easy pull on and off.

Soorty also teamed with Tonello and Officina+39 to showcase sustainable chemical and laundry solutions. “Change can only be achieved through collective effort, which is why the collaboration with Soorty and Officina+39 is so important,” said Alice Tonello, marketing and R&D director at Tonello. “Together, we are making a difference in reducing the environmental impact and resource consumption related to garment treatment. Our partnership demonstrates our strong belief in collaborations of this kind to create added value for the industry.”

Officina+39’s managing director Andrea Venier added, “We share the same goals, as our companies firmly believe that the present and future of the fashion industry lies in innovation and technology to reduce the impacts without compromise. We love to explore the possibilities of our products and processes combined with the innovative technologies of leaders companies in the market. Together, with creativity and expertise we created a unique collection.”

In addition to the collaborative collections, SpaceD invited denim consultant Miles Johnson to give a trend presentation for Spring/Summer 2026, including what styles, materials and sustainable solutions are expected to take off. Soorty also offered a Denim Curiosity Table that showcased sustainable raw materials and textiles.
