Reinaldo Lourenço Creates Tailored Denim Looks with TENCEL™

Brazilian designer Reinaldo Lourenço teamed up with Lenzing and Canatiba Textil to bring an elevated look to TENCEL™ jeanswear.

The co-branded capsule collection features five styles: a pair of pants, midi dress, bermuda shorts, long-sleeve button up and bikini top. All of them incorporate our wood-based TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers that reduce the carbon impact by at least half compared to conventional man-made cellulosic materials.

“For me, it is very important to bring to this collection a sustainable raw material that has mainly quality in touch, weight and fit,” said Reinaldo. “I am very happy to work with superior quality fabrics, made by the renowned Canatiba Textil denim mill with TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers, which only add to the final result of each piece of the collection.”

Reinaldo chose Canatiba’s Everest Maxskin fabric in indigo for all the looks. The Brazilian denim mill has made environmental friendliness a key initiative in its production, with solutions targeting impacts like water consumption. Canatiba frequently works with TENCEL™ Lyocell, opting for the fibers as a sustainable choice. In addition to carbon reduction, Lenzing’s fibers are biodegradable, meaning they will decompose in soil and water.

“For us, this approach of our sustainable fabrics to an authorial brand like Reinaldo Lourenço is very interesting, as it brings an interpretation in the language of fashion,” said Ivna Barreto, marketing manager at Canatiba Textil. “We are always surprised by the interpretation.”

Lenzing frequently partners with sustainably minded manufacturers and brands for collections to help bring more TENCEL™ products to the market, growing its eco impact. To make the biggest difference, we will need to collaborate with the industry.

“The path to sustainability is incessant and each step is fundamental,” said Juliana Jabour, business development manager textile in South America at the Lenzing Group. “We are dedicated to continuous progress, where every action, from the selection of materials to the manufacturing process of each item, helps to reduce our environmental impact. Working with inspiring and aligned brands, such as Canatiba Textil and Reinaldo Lourenço, helps us to progress in harmony with nature.”

The collection debuted on Aug. 15 across Reinaldo Lourenço’s e-commerce site, its store in São Paulo and brick-and-mortar multi-brand stores. Shop looks online here.
