China’s SPS Denim Creates Sustainable Jeans with TENCEL™

For summery denim, TENCEL™ fibers are a fitting choice. With moisture absorption, breathability, lightweight weaves and soft hand feels, jeans made from our lyocell and modal fibers can help wearers beat the heat.
The latest TENCEL™ co-branded collaboration is all about this breezy feel. Shanghai, China-based SPS Denim, also known as Simple Pieces, created denim using TENCEL™ fibers, choosing the fibers for their exceptional comfort as well as their eco-conscious attributes.
SPS Denim’s collection spans classic jeans, skirts, jackets and dresses. The brand is known for an innovative approach to design and production, and that extends to material choice.
“SPS Denim, a Shanghai-based brand known for its comfortable denim, emphasizes fabric quality, fit and craftsmanship—offering young women denim products that blend comfort with style,” said Vincent Hu, senior commercial director, textiles China at Lenzing.“In collaboration with Lenzing, SPS Denim has integrated TENCEL™ fibers into its core collection, leveraging their natural, skin-friendly and cooling properties to elevate both comfort and fashion appeal.”

Complementing the easy summer attitude of the denim, SPS created a co-branded Shanghai-style fan. Lenzing also developed trophies tied to the collaboration that were given to friends of the SPS Denim brand.
On Weibo, TENCEL™ explained the experience of the collection, writing, “The evening breeze in the alley is woven into cloth, which is refreshing, comfortable and good for cooling off.” It further compares the denim to “summer shade,” touting the wicking properties.
A series of videos dives into the collection further. In one, a Lenzing employee models one of the jeans at our Austrian headquarters while walking through the benefits of TENCEL™ fibers.

“Beyond supplying premium TENCEL™ fibers, Lenzing has provided strong support in brand building, including the co-creation of brand assets and tools for product traceability,” said Vincent. “This partnership enhances consumer awareness of the benefits of TENCEL™ fibers and strengthens the brand’s presence among younger audiences. The initiative not only drives SPS product sales but also accelerates TENCEL™ brand recognition and fiber adoption through a co-branding model.”
We are proud to support SPS Denim on their journey toward more sustainable fashion. Collaborations like this demonstrate how innovation, transparency and shared values can shape a better future for the textile industry—one pair of jeans at a time.
