Innovation, Indian Sourcing and Cost Concerns Were the Top Topics at Denimsandjeans

From May 6 to 7, the Lalit Ashok Bangalore became a destination for denim as Denimsandjeans hosted the eighth edition of its India show.

The two-day show saw strong participation from both domestic and international suppliers and buyers, as well as academic institutions and students. Attendees had the chance to explore exhibitor booths, hear the latest developments in panel discussions, take part in workshops and party with their peers.

Lenzing was among the exhibitors, and we showcased our recently launched TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 fibers, which offer a cotton-like look. Shipments of TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 to the nation were initially delayed due to BIS restrictions, but as of November 2025, we began importing the fiber into India, as mills ordered sample bales. Since the fiber is now accessible to Indian manufacturers, Denimsandjeans provided a platform to thoroughly present the innovation to this market.

In addition to one-on-one meetings at our booth, Lenzing’s head of global business development – denim Tuncay Kilickan made a presentation about the fiber as part of the seminar program. The overall feedback from both brands and mills has been positive, and the mill-side rollout timing in this country is expected to rival the speed we’ve seen in other markets such as Türkiye, Pakistan and China. Once it’s available from mills, brands are ready to get on board as well.

“It was a priceless experience for us to explore the Indian denim community with our latest fiber development, TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100,” said Tuncay. “The overall feedback was extremely promising, further reinforcing the strong potential of this innovation in the market. There is no doubt that India is on its way to becoming the next major denim hub for HV100.”

In addition to Indian mills and garment manufacturers, the show floor featured raw material and machinery suppliers like Tonello, Officina39, Lycra and Hyosung. Providing inspiration, a trend area showed off novelties.

On-stage sessions covered topics ranging from how Gen Z is shaping the apparel supply chain to making India the preferred sourcing destination. One panel dove into a regenerative cotton collaboration between Hugo Boss and Raddis Cotton, while another highlighted sustainable chemistry.

One of the key concerns we were hearing from attendees was mitigating the rising costs tied to geopolitical issues. Considering the challenges currently facing the industry, the energy we felt at the fair was commendable.
