In the Hot Seat: Adriano Goldschmied On All Things Denim

No one knows denim better than Adriano Goldschmied. Carved In Blue caught up with the legendary denim designer and fired off some questions about all things denim and blue.

Carved In Blue: What is your biggest pet peeve about the denim industry?

Adriano: Repeats—the same thing, all the time.

Carved In Blue: What is your favorite denim city?

Adriano: Amsterdam.

Carved In Blue: Are copycats flattering, or a nuisance?

Adriano: I love to be influential, so copies are more than welcomed.

Carved In Blue: Who do you admire the most in the denim industry?

Adriano: Andrew Olah.

Carved In Blue: Do you have a favorite trade show?

Adriano: Kingpins Amsterdam—there’s a lot of passion for denim and the most professional.

Carved In Blue: What is the worst denim trend you have seen?

Adriano: Embellishments.

Carved In Blue: Light or dark wash?

Adriano: As long it is indigo, both.

Carved In Blue: What does ‘carved in blue’ mean to you?

Adriano: I think about how phenomenal indigo is, how the most ancient dye in the history of humanity is married so seamlessly to the most modern and technological fibers like TENCEL® and Lenzing Modal®. So, carved in blue, to me, is what is keeping together the indigo community and making it a passionate one. It is our glue.
