ISKO I-SKOOL to Honor Future Creators with Denim Design Award
The next round of denim talent to drive the history and heritage of this product forward are in school right now.
That’s ISKO I-SKOOL to be exact.
Expanding on its role as a global leader in denim production and textile innovation, ISKO and its style and design think tank, Creative Room, look to honor new talent in the latest Denim Design Award fashion contest.
On July 12th, contestants and denim’s elite will gather at BASE in Milan, Italy to observe what ISKO calls “unbridled creativity,” and award those doing denim best.
“The path of the fourth edition of ISKO I-SKOOL has been really exciting: can’t wait to show our industry how creative, original and brazen these young talents are,” said Marco Lucietti, global marketing director of the SANKO/ISKO division.
The talent contest will look at young students doing big things in design for denim and in the marketing of it.
This year, Lenzing is a gold partner of the Design Award and will work with students throughout the design and production phases of creating garments.
“The future of the denim industry is dependent on fresh talent from around the world,” said Tricia Carey, director of business development for denim at Lenzing, who will be a judge in the Denim Design Jury. “It was a pleasure to work with the students early this year as they developed their ideas. They are a very inquisitive group! I look forward to participating in the I-SKOOL jury this week with Livia and Adriano to determine the most innovative student denim designs.”
Two juries: the Denim Design Jury, which boasts denim guru Adriano Goldschmied as its president; and the Marketing Award Jury chaired by Livia Firth, founder and creative director of Eco Age. Other companies on the jury include Silver Partners: Itema and Reca Group, as well as Supporting Partners: Haikure, Swarovski, Replay, Jacob Cohen, Liu Jo, 7 For All Mankind, Capsule, Betabrand, C&S, Mustang, AO2, Tonello, Iskoteca and Menabo Group. Winning contestants will be awarded internships with renowned brands that support the ISKOOL initiative.
“We have been working alongside the design students since day one of this adventure, helping them dream, create and build their designs into real garments,” CREATIVE ROOM art director Massimo Munari, said. “Their efforts and inventiveness are awe-inspiring: you’ll see it on stage!”
