Pause Looks to Deliver Individuality and Sustainability With Apparel Lineup
Comfort, self-expression and sustainability are some of the core components that lead Pause’s apparel market presence.
The India-based brand, which debuted its first Fall collection in 2016, is working to redefine casual wear by creating clothing made from eco-friendly materials, offering a universally flattering fit and providing its female consumers with Boho-inspired styles. Pause’s founders, Neha Modi and Neha Tham, set out to offer women a functional and fashion-forward line that doesn’t leave a negative impact on the environment.
Bringing together its mission of positive impact and mindfulness, Pause’s apparel lineup features sustainable fibers, including TENCEL™ branded lyocell fibers, derived from wood pulp. According to Pause, 80 percent of its products are made from different qualities of TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers—from lightweight to denim to jersey and twill voile.
The brand, which uses TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers extensively, designs ready-to-wear pieces, including tie front tops and embellished Dhoti pants for functionality and seamless wardrobe choices. Pause’s garments are available in a myriad of vintage-inspired hues, including earthy greens and browns, grays and blues. The line’s aesthetics, including stone dyes and soft tailoring, complement its appeal to the eco-conscious female consumer.
In addition to using TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers in its line, Pause aims to reduce its carbon footprint with responsible supply chain operations. Unlike other apparel brands, Pause’s fabrics are dyed and printed in-house. Other sustainability initiatives include supporting a high tech water recovery plant, recycling waste and donating textile scraps.
And the brand has more apparel collections in the works.
Following the debut of Lil Pause, a clothing line made for girls between ages 2 and 13, and the opening of its flagship store in Mumbai, the brand is working on introducing a luxe range that will feature cocktail occasion pieces. This year, Pause will also introduce a men’s wear collection, as it seeks to expand its contemporary-meets-eco-friendly image in the global fashion industry.
