TENCEL™ Denim returns as New York Denim Days’ Title Sponsor

June 8 +9 New York Denim Days, the festival that celebrates the capabilities of all things indigo, returns to the city this summer; and another returnee will be title sponsor TENCEL™ branded fibers by Lenzing. Tricia Carey, director of global business development for denim at Lenzing, looks forward to sharing what the company will be exhibiting.

“For this edition of New York Denim Days we have developed some creative ways of displaying our theme, ‘Denim from the Ground Up,’, which will have an interactive display and several places for great photo-ops,” Carey said. TENCEL™ Denim also brings together brand partners 3×1, Athleta, Garbage by Marta Goldschmied,  Mavi, and Triarchy to fill the weekend with festivities for all ages.

Throughout the weekend, New York Denim Days will feature a rotation of musicians, live entertainment and speakers. The speaker series, presented by Advance Denim, will feature designers, activists and innovators from the denim sphere holding lectures, panels and Q&A sessions.

TENCEL™ brand partner Athleta will hold two morning yoga sessions lead by Athleta’s in-house yoga instructors. The $10 sign-up fee includes participation in a yoga class, a free denim yoga mat and bag, plus an entrance ticket to New York Denim Days. Attendees must register to participate, as space is limited (tickets available at www.denim-days.com).

The festival will feature two fashion shows: students from the High School of Fashion Industries will share their re-purposed denim jacket reactions on the catwalk, and OshKosh B’gosh will hold a kids fashion show featuring the latest fashions from OshKosh B’gosh, Athleta Girl, Indi-Kids, Trico Fields and more. All looks from the kids’ fashion show will also be shoppable at New York Denim Days.

For any denimheads who also love sneakers, top Instagram sneakerhead account Just4KicksDaily will be showcasing a rare sneaker collection and works from a crew of famed sneaker customizers. Customizers Malcolm Garret and Ceeze will be on-site to show their work and take orders. Colchester and Vans will be available for purchase, and guests who purchase sneakers can dye their new sneakers with Brooklyn-based indigo dyer Sayaka while supplies last. Denim shoppers will also be able to browse the 18th Street vintage denim market for vintage pieces, or partake in the live entertainment, games, art, and food that will be available in the market during the festival.

Along with the photo opportunities at TENCEL™ denim’s themed displays, graphic artist Moon Heemin will also be unveiling an Instagram-worthy new creation. His latest work is presented by Artistic Milliners.

Anna Weber, German stop-motion artist, will also debut a new work, made specifically for the Denim Days festival. Weber will also bring her previously displayed thread artworks, featured in Sourcing Journal, to show at Denim Days.

Bring the whole family, because New York Denim Days has great memories for everyone. Tickets are $7 pre-sale and $10 at the door. Students and kids under 12 attend for free.
