Who is Carved in Blue?

The ‘Carved in Blue’ blog was the brainchild of the TENCEL(TM) Denim Team, originated by Tricia Carey and Michael Kininmonth. Today, the blog is curated by Tuncay Kilickan and Dennis Hui, along with the rest of the global denim team that keeps a pulse on the industry.

The meaning of ‘Carved in Blue’ is whatever you want it to be, whatever you visualize about the denim business and is personal to you. Our inspiration originated from the phrase ‘carved in stone’— representing as it does our permanent and absolute position as a fixture in the past, the present and future of denim.

With the Carved in Blue blog, we try to delve into the inner workings and innovations of the denim industry and be part of a community that has a growing environmental consciousness and creativity. Our aim is that our fibers become woven into the denim tales that Carved in Blue will tell.
Established in the small Upper Austrian town in 1892, the history of Lenzing is a modest one, beginning as it did as a paper mill. Later it became a manufacturing plant producing wood pulp and viscose fibers and has continued down a path of eco-conscious innovation to become the world’s largest producer of TENCEL™ Lyocell and TENCEL™ Modal branded fibers, with a reputation rooted in sustainability.

Lenzing is the world market leader in high-quality wood-based cellulose fibers. TENCEL™ Lyocell and TENCEL™ Modal are our brand, and each have their place in denim, enhancing its comfort, performance and sustainability.
