Archival Denim is the Star at Vintage Showroom’s Second Location
For almost two decades, design consultancy Vintage Showroom has been sharing its archive with everyone from fashion designers to film directors.
In 2007, collectors Roy Luckett and Doug Gunn came together to launch the showroom, creating a space to house their collection that dates back to the 1800s. Both co-founders had gathered one-of-a-kind archival pieces while traveling, and the showroom enables visitors to rent or purchase items from the extensive collection.
In addition to its work lending and selling to creators, Vintage Showroom operates a consulting business that has collaborated with big names in fashion and retail. For instance, the showroom’s partnership with Orta Anadolu began over a decade ago. Supporting the next generation, the store also opens its doors for student research sessions.
The partners expanded their footprint with a second location in central London. Housed in a renovated printing facility, the 2,000-square-foot showroom features a denim archive with over 1,000 pieces. Individuals can make an appointment to view the collection in-person or over video chat. The archive has also been digitized for remote exploration.
Roy and Doug are also active on the trade show scene. You may have seen some denim selections from Vintage Showroom at events like Kingpins Amsterdam and Bluezone.
