Going Green with THE GOOD LOOP

Going Green with THE GOOD LOOP

One of the best ways to lower fashion’s impact is by getting the greatest possible use out of materials.

Our TENCEL™ Lyocell with REFIBRA™ technology accomplishes this by turning cotton textile waste into feedstock for new fiber. By replacing some of the wood pulp with fabric scraps, we’re able to cut down on the amount of virgin resources needed while also saving cotton from landfills. TENCEL™ x REFIBRA™ is virtually indistinguishable from virgin lyocell, with the same quality and softness.

REFIBRA™ technology is part of a broader motto within Lenzing to accomplish THE GOOD LOOP. We aim to make all of our products less impactful. For instance, our lyocell production uses a closed-loop process that rescues more than 99 percent of the solvents used.

When products made with TENCEL™ reach the end of usability, the fiber is fully biodegradable so it won’t add to waste in landfills.

REFIBRA™ technology has caught on in the denim community as manufacturers and brands aim to make jeans with less environmental impact.

“At Kings of Indigo, we believe that drastic change is required in the fashion industry,” explained the brand’s founder Tony Tonnaer. “More circularity and less waste is one key part of this.”
