Hong Kong Design Institute Graduate Show Highlights Sustainable Fashion

To see what the future of the fashion industry will look like, just look at the work from student designers. These emerging talents will soon be working at brands or launching their own labels.

Hong Kong Design Institute’s Graduate Fashion Show, held on June 27, was a prime chance to spot some new ideas from young designers. The show featured collections from 38 designers from the Higher Diploma in Fashion Design and BA(Hons) Fashion Design programs, which are jointly offered by Nottingham Trent University and SHAPE/VTC.

Lenzing Fibers (Hong Kong) Limited had the pleasure of sponsoring The Best Sustainability Award. Our own Dennis Hui from the TENCEL™ Denim Team also served as a judge. Other sponsors for the Graduate Fashion Show included Jeanologia and Advance Denim.

TENCEL™ was also present at the show through student designs. Most of the denim collections featured TENCEL™. Some of the jeans looks come from the Denim6 program participants, which gave six students the chance to have an immersive denim education experience. As part of this program, Lenzing Hong Kong and the TENCEL™ Denim Team provided mentorship and training to students starting at the end of 2022.

The looks created for the show ranged from sleek monochromatic beige to boldly printed, with a wide range of references.
