Lenzing to Unveil Sustainable Denim Wardrobe Capsule at Kingpins Amsterdam
Denim’s indigo roots, vibrant colors and eco-efficient laundry techniques come together for Lenzing’s latest sustainable denim wardrobe capsule.
Entitled Blues & Hues, the capsule, created in collaboration with denim finishing leader Jeanologia, will make its debut at Kingpins Amsterdam this month. The collection was designed to demonstrate how eco-mined companies can work together to address a void in the market for sustainable denim and promote eco-conscious consumption among consumers.
The capsule is a showcase for Lenzing’s sustainable fibers and Jeanologia’s dispruptive technologies and not only demonstrates sustainable use of resources but is a statement of the shared values of both Lenzing and Jeanologia.
“From fiber to finish, this SDW Blues & Hues capsule collection demonstrates the exciting designs that result when fashion, comfort, and sustainability all combine. Because of their natural origins, our fibers enhance denim with a sustainability element as well as with the aesthetics and performance that are critical for denim today,” Lenzing project manager Michael Kininmonth said. “The new SDW Blues & Hues collection features TENCEL™ Lyocell and TENCEL™ Modal once again but also includes TENCEL™ Luxe, TENCEL™ x Refibra™, and LENZING™ Modal Color.”
The collection highlights a wide range of denim interpretations, with indigo being the staple for the men’s styles, contrasted with color and texture for the women’s styles. “Color is key and powerful in this collection,” Jeanologia’s Carme Santacruz said. “We see a complete range of pastel colors and vibrant hues applied using our eFlow technology. The denim becomes a reinterpreted basic, thanks to the reactive-flow overdyeing that gives us a retro aesthetic made in a modern way. Overdyeing has never been so cool!”
Design input for the collection came from Jeanologia, ASINDOWN, a Downs Syndrome Association in Spain and students from the Escola d’Art I Superior de Disseny de Valéncia. Fabrics for the Blues & Hues collection were collected from global partner mills in China, India, Italy, Japan, Pakistan, Spain, Thailand, Turkey and the U.S.
