Lenzing’s Fancy Denim Collection Looks to Inspire with Unexpected Concepts
Although there is evergreen appeal in a traditional blue jean, there is something to be said for thinking outside the box in denim designs.
This spirit of creativity is at the heart of our work at Lenzing, and we are consistently working with the industry to go beyond the typical denim constructions. Denim is not limited to three-by-one or two-by-one weaving techniques, and companies can innovate with different structures and applications.
To encourage manufacturers and brands to think outside the box, the Lenzing team worked with seven global mills—Advance Denim, Black Peony, BluGround, Gamatex, TCE, Vita Textile, and Xinsuntex—to develop the Fancy Denim Collection. Rounding out the 20-piece collection are articles from our own Application Innovation Centre at our Hong Kong headquarters.
The collection includes garments in varied weights and styles. Mills incorporated unexpected fibers such as lurex and special constructions such as jacquard weaves, dobby and knit-like constructions. There are also piece-dyed indigo jersey articles, bringing the denim hue to a different textile.
Also adding an innovative touch are different finishing and wash techniques, including laser effects.
There are patchwork-style pieces, garments in unexpected colors such as a mossy green and a vibrant purple, denim and knitwear with metallic threads and a range of prints—from Batik to abstract.
We aim to inspire the industry by providing some crazy ideas demonstrating the diversity of Lenzing fibers applications. We hope this Fancy Denim Collection may provide some momentum to bring new concepts forth with varied execution.
