Mara Hoffman Talks Inspiration for Fall
Mara Hoffman may be known for its vibrant collections and breezy silhouettes, but the brand has built denim right into the collection in the most Mara Hoffman way.
From a two-tone denim jumpsuit, to a high-waisted two-tone pant and top co-ord, to knit pants, Mara Hoffman and team are making denim that’s fluid, fun, and fashion-forward.
With Fall upon us, and, with it, the excitement of new fashion for the season, Carved in Blue caught up with Hoffman to get the scoop on what to expect from the brand’s new collection and the inspiration behind it.
Carved in Blue: What does Mara Hoffman stand for? What’s the company’s vision?
Mara: We stand for love, strength, beauty, and positive change.
Carved in Blue: Your Fall line looks incredible. Can you tell us more about the inspiration?
Mara: I drew inspiration from the power of women, the artists, designers, teachers and activists that are committed to creating change. Fall was designed for these women. These pieces play with the balance of masculinity and femininity, and can be worn routinely like a uniform.
Carved in Blue: Which Instagrammer gives you great fashion inspiration?
Mara: @chillwildlife
Carved in Blue: What’s your favorite thing about fashion for Fall?
Mara: Layering. I like fall because it’s favorable to new beginnings, it feels like time to start new.
Carved in Blue: What are some of your favorite pieces?
Mara: The Winona denim coat, the knit Nellie pants, the slate Dolores coat, and the Lucy denim pants.
Carved in Blue: Speaking of denim, how does Mara Hoffman integrate it into the collection:
Mara: It came pretty naturally, I wear vintage jeans almost every day and I wanted to create something that resonated and moved easily throughout the collection.
Carved in Blue: What are the features of the TENCEL® styles for customers?
Mara: There’s a really great softness and comfort to the TENCEL® pieces. You want to put them on.
Carved in Blue: How is Mara Hoffman the “Conscious Denim Choice”?
Mara: Our fall denim pieces are made with woven TENCEL® from the pulp of sustainably harvested trees. We ask our customers to hold onto these pieces, to wash less and wear more, and I think the denim pieces really lend themselves well to that.
