NDM’s sound business acumen has translated into international success. Today, the company exports to more than 40 countries; has a global network and sales offices in all the major manufacturing regions; and services some of the biggest companies in the apparel industry, including Zara, Gap, C&A, Topman and Mango.
The secret ingredient to NDM’s success has been in its innovative approach, and its dedication to closely monitoring the latest trends and market demands. Here, Carved in Blue chats with Ms Aydan Tuzun, head of global sales and marketing at NDM about its new denim concept, Eternal Colors, and the purpose behind its introduction of LENZING™ Modal Black into its production cycle.
Carved in Blue: Could you explain more about NDM’s developments with LENZING™ Modal Black?
Aydan: At NDM, we believe in sustainable innovation that utilizes new technologies and discovers innovative ways of fulfilling the needs of our customers while contributing to a better world. We started our LENZING™ Modal Black journey two years ago in this regard. We have developed a new concept, Eternal Colors, taking into consideration the expectations of our customers and also market demands.
Carved in Blue: Which fibers are you blending with?
Aydan: We are using mostly LENZING™ Modal Black-polyester blends for weft and 100 percent modal in warp. It is important to use 100 percent LENZING™ Modal Black in warp to have better softness and “never fading” denim. If we are using LENZING™ Modal Black in weft, we are blending it with polyester as a cover on elastane core to have performance and soft products.
Carved in Blue: Have you seen increasing demand for this development?
Aydan: At NDM, we have established innovative processes that allow us to work in full collaboration, and furthermore co-creation, with all our partners in the supply chain. We strongly believe that innovation is a cooperative process that should involve all our stakeholders. Thus, we closely communicate with our customers and monitor market trends. And today, customers are increasingly asking for denims that are not only soft but also brand-new looking, even after extended use, never fading and retaining intensive colors. That’s why our Eternal Colors concept is growing.
Carved in Blue: Is this a seasonal product or more seasonless?
Aydan: We believe that LENZING™ Modal Black products are seasonless, according to color choice or construction that we created. It is possible to cover each season’s needs with Lenzing fibers in blended fabrics.
Carved in Blue: In what shows will you be highlighting this? Where can customers see it?
Aydan: They can see our Eternal Colors products in Munich Fabric Start, Kingpins, Première Vision and Colombiatex.
