Naveena’s Team Can’t Wait to Shop New York Denim Days
Those who have attended New York Denim Days already know the shopping, events and community are to die for. Aydan Tuzun, head of global sales and marketing at Naveena, is one such person.
Here’s what she’s most looking forward to at this year’s festival, right around the corner in June. And check out what the mill will bring to the table at the fest, and which events you’ll be able to spot Aydan and her team participating in.
Carved in Blue: What is your story at NY Denim Days?
Aydan: Naveena’s objective is to promote sustainable practices in fashion and to create widespread demand for sustainable items on the consumer side. For this reason, we always strive to find ways to bring seasonal denim trends to life in a sustainable way. Accordingly, this season as well, we are collaborating with a brand that produces unique items using sustainable manufacturing methods–CIE Denim based in NY. They create an intimate connection to each and every hand-picked pair while envisioning what they will become. TENCEL™ Lyocell, of course, continues to take an important part in our collection. We are preparing yoga mat bags for TENCEL™ & Athleta events to take place at Denim Days with our TENCEL™ Denim.
Carved in Blue: What do you like most at NY Denim Days?
Aydan: Building a sustainable future is a common goal for all of us. Denim Days serves this goal in the most creative and entertaining way. The events gather denim heads, fashionistas, new designers, creative ideas, young people and all denim lovers all together. I think it is very important to communicate sustainable practices in a ludic way and to show that sustainable collections can stand up to core fashion collections in terms of design, quality, fit and fashion credibility.
Carved in Blue: What did you buy last year at NY Denim Days?
Aydan: I bought a handmade, natural indigo-dyed shawl that I wear very often.
Carved in Blue: What do you think consumers walk away with after attending NY Denim days?
Aydan: Thanks to creative activities, creative people, great products, great music and indigo everywhere, I am sure that they will be feeding their souls and will walk away with lots of positive energy.
Carved in Blue: If you were telling your best friend to come to NY Denim Days, what would you say about it?
Aydan: I would say that they could not find such a large number of creative spirits together anywhere else. They would have a very different shopping experience and also a lot of fun.
