Slideshow: The 2020 Holiday Shopping Scene in NYC

Holiday shopping in New York City looks vastly different this year, but retailers are keeping up traditions with a health-conscious twist.

Typically on a weekend around the holidays, you can barely move on the sidewalks in shopping corridors. However, the flood of tourists and locals out and about has been reduced to a trickle, making the streets more navigable and quieter.

Even though the city may be emptier than usual, the retail experience must go on, and it is with added safety measures. With capacity restrictions in place, shoppers queued up outside of Apple, Moncler and The RealReal in SoHo. The outdoor dining spaces have also evolved, as restaurants create more enclosed streetside table options. Bryant Park has elevated Covid-safe dining with private igloos that can be rented out for 90 minutes for between $200 to $500.
