keep the earth
in good shape

Denim may have been around since 16th Century Italians started weaving the fabric, and then picked up in popularity when rugged outdoorsy types panning for gold started wearing them for work—but 1992 was when denim got turned on its head. That was the year Lenzing tossed TENCEL™ Lyocell into the game, thus birthing a jean made from the first eco-friendly, man-made natural fiber. Meaning they made the fiber out of trees. Well, wood pulp to be exact.

Here’s the short version: lovingly grown trees are cut, pressed and spun into TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers that get woven into buttery blue jeans, made for both your wearing pleasure and to keep the Earth in good shape. Lenzing is all about sustainability, but aside from creating do-good TENCEL™ Lyocell, we’re pretty clever about our process. There’s lots more to our story (below), but first, check out our video to see trees do double time to turn into the soft, supple jeans made with TENCEL™ Lyocell we all know and (obviously) love.
