Misci Updates Signature Styles with TENCEL™ and Canatiba
Fashion and furniture label Misci centers on the diversity of its native Brazil. Much of the brand’s production and raw labor sourcing happens domestically, showcasing the country’s sustainability as well as craft.
Now, Misci is partnering with TENCEL™ and Brazilian mill Canatiba on a collection of unisex pieces. The collection, which launched in Misci’s brick-and-mortar stores and e-commerce site on Sept. 12, blends the brand’s original designs with sustainable materials.
“The partnership between Misci, TENCEL™ and Canatiba Textil presents itself as a shining example of the creative and innovative potential of Brazilian fashion,” said Airon Martin, founder and creative director of Misci. “It’s a reminder that when talent and responsibility come together, the result is not only beautiful, but also meaningful.”
Included in the capsule are classic Misci pieces reinterpreted with new fabrications. For instance, the Chanfro jeans—recently renamed Roda—are constructed from Canatiba’s Rarita Linen twill, which includes TENCEL™ Lyocell, cotton and linen. A Roda jacket is embroidered, featuring the techniques of local producers.
“The collection is not just a series of pieces of clothing; It is a manifesto about what Brazilian fashion can be: innovative, comprehensive and committed to a more sustainable future,” said Martin. “It is an invitation for all of us to rethink our relationship with fashion, celebrating pieces that are as timeless as the creative spirit that conceived them.”
Misci is also updating its Alegrete shirt from its Valor Latino collection—which features a skin-revealing central cutout—by using Canatiba’s Algocel Maxskin that contains TENCEL™ Lyocell.
“The union of the chain from raw materials, weaving and brand bring to the market the noblest in fabric, beauty and sustainability in product,” said Ivna Barreto, marketing and magazine manager at Canatiba Textil. “There is an increasing need for knowledge of inputs and processes to work with transparent and environmentally correct fashion.”
Lenzing is consistently working with the value chain—from producers to brands—to incorporate its fibers into more fashion and textile pieces. Made with a closed-loop production process using wood pulp from responsibly sourced trees, TENCEL™ Lyocell is good for the planet while also being comfortable and soft.
“The journey towards sustainability is continuous, and every step is crucial,” said Juliana Jabour, textile business development manager in South America at the Lenzing Group. “We are committed to constant progress, where every action, from the choice of materials to the manufacturing process of each item, contributes to the reduction of our environmental impact. Collaborating with inspiring and aligned brands, such as Canatiba Textil and Misci, helps us to move forward in harmony with the environment.”
