Throughout the year, the Lenzing denim team has been sharing stories about denim. This includes talking to mills to hear about the latest developments, chatting with up-and-coming entrepreneurs putting their own spin on denim design and production, and spotlighting denim heads with a strong devotion to the material.

5. Lenzing Looks Took the Stage at the Hong Kong Design Institute Fashion Show

Hong Kong Design Institute’s mission is to nurture the next generation of design talent, and the fruits of this effort were on display this week.

On July 9, HKDI hosted the fashion show New Fashion Force 2024, featuring the work of students from two programs: HD in Fashion Design and BA (Hons) Fashion—jointly offered by Nottingham Trent University and SHAPE. Thirty-two talented students reached the final and were able to present their creative works on stage.

3. Slideshow: The TENCEL™ Denim Team at New York’s Textile Shows

The textile industry converged on New York last week for a bevy of trade shows. Lenzing exhibited and spoke at Texworld NYC and Functional Fabric Fair, and our teams attended Première Vision New York.

For the Lenzing Denim team, the focus was on Kingpins New York from July 17-18. TENCEL™ was one of the show sponsors, and we had a booth to showcase our latest collections such as the TENCEL™ x Regenerative Cotton Denim Collection and Application Innovation Collection 2024. As usual, we had two busy days with many interactions with different segments of the industry.

Due to their position in the supply chain, denim mills have a finger on the pulse of the category’s demand, trajectory and developments. In this series, Carved in Blue is catching up with mills around the globe to get their insights on sales performance, impactful innovations and projections for this year.

1. Juan Manuel Gómez on Using Denim as His Canvas and Upcycling as an Art Form

Colombian-based artist and designer Juan Manuel Gómez is dedicated to denim. Jeans serve not only as a medium for his art, but also an opportunity to upcycle garments and keep them in circulation longer.

Juan’s denim art utilizes laundry techniques, and this ultimately led him to a career creating denim dyes as the design leader at Officina+39. Here, he talks to Carved in Blue about his Deverazul art initiative and Telariazul Upcycling Remade that is reimagining denim.
