Artistic Milliners x Tilmann Wröbel Debut French-Inspired Collection

The city of love comes to life for Artistic Milliners’ latest denim collaboration with France-based designer Tilmann Wröbel.

Artistic Milliners, a denim fabric and garment producer based in Paksitan, tapped Wröbel to design its latest “Made in Paris—Frenchie” capsule collection. The collection, which culls inspiration from Paris’ sophisticated yet unpretentious style, recently made its debut at Kingpins Amsterdam, April 18-19th, and will also present at Kingpins New York, June 6-7th. With the collection, Artistic Milliners and Wröbel hope to provide consumers with a denim wardrobe that is versatile enough to wear for day and nighttime activities.

“When I first saw the fabrications, I was immediately seduced by the slightly semi-shiny coatings, the soft hand-feel and the very responsive stretch construction. Immediately my thoughts went to more subtle, minimalist finishes, with a touch of handmake, to extremely subtle mix and matches of shiny and matte denim-fabrications,” Wröbel said. “On the inside the designs would be finished with hand-numbered sateen labels, a bit like the exquisite ones used in the past on each individual Haute-couture item.”

While Wröbel brainstormed with Artistic Milliners’ team on the collection’s creative elements, he was inspired by souvenirs of his past design experience in the Paris Haute Couture. Following the principles of these garments, including craftsmanship and versatility, Wröbel set out to create a group of denim products—a French Five Piece—to carry consumers from casual Paris days to Paris’ robust nightlife scene.

Wröbel drew designs by hand for each of the collections’ items, including easy slim jeans for women, a versatile blazer to dress outfits up or down and low crotch denim for men. What makes the collections’ apparel items, including shirts and trenchcoats, stand out are their shiny and matte Frenchie fabrications, designed to provide a seamless look for consumers’ wardrobe needs. Following this part of the process, Wröbel crafted the collection’s garments at a Paris-based premium workshop, a denim studio where each piece was sewn and fitted individually. Unknown-5

The collection, which was photographed by Parisian artist Jérôme Macé, will make its next debut in New York and London.

“Frenchie – Made in Paris is a collection of hyper-saturated blacks and midnight blues with a subtle feel of glossy look. The inspiration idea was to add a touch of elegance to the daily denim look. The well-constructed stretch fabrics with hidden comfort enriched with 35% TENCEL™ Lyocell fiber in overall composition is intended to give a soft handfeel to avoid the traditional “coated denim” perception – stiff, papery and non-breathing,” says Ebru Ozaydin, SVP Sales and Marketing, Artistic Milliners.
