Denims and Jeans Vietnam Spotlights Stretch-Friendly Fashion

Vietnam has become an apparel production powerhouse, and the country’s garment exports are still rapidly growing. To highlight this sector, and specifically the denim category in Vietnam, denim website DenimsandJeans.com hosts a recurring trade show in the nation.

The fifth edition of Denims and Jeans Vietnam was held on March 1-2 at the Riverside Palace in Ho Chi Minh. Centered on the theme Yoga x Denim, the two-day event featured more than 50 exhibitors, including Lenzing and many of our mill partners. Local players like XDD Denim, Viet Hong Denims, Tuong Long, TCE and Jomu were joined by mills from around the globe, such as Cone Denim, Prosperity, SM Denim, Neela Denim, Soorty, Pioneer Denim, Lucky Textile, KG Denim, Siddiqsons Limited and PT Duniatex.

At the show, a trade area showcased denim garments by theme. Among the articles on display were seamless yoga denim and super stretch denim made with TENCEL™ Modal with Indigo Color technology. These spun-dyed fibers enable more applications for the indigo hue, due to high colorfastness.

Visitors—including buyers from brands like PVH and Target—could also shop a Denim Bazaar filled with goods from local designers and producers.

In keeping with the theme, the first day closed out with a yoga demonstration.

Across the two days, a series of talks investigated current innovations and the future for the denim industry. One presentation from Cotton Council International representative Dr. William Hung discussed the U.S. Cotton Trust Protocol’s “sustainability and traceability.” Another one was presented by Nicolas Prophte, vice president of sourcing, product and innovation denim for Tommy Hilfiger, Europe, on the topic of “How Vietnam Could Play a Role Towards a Circular Denim Industry.”

Laundry was another key topic. Tonello’s Alice Tonello discussed the “Laundry (R)evolution,” while another session featured Serdar Demircioglu of Kaiser Textile sharing the latest developments in laundry chemistry.

An additional point of discussion was the use of artificial intelligence in denim.
