Denim Mills Discuss Their Experiences with TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100

When Lenzing Group launched TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 this fall, the debut happened in partnership with global denim mills. We teamed up with 17 mills to create a collection of fabrics that showcased what is possible with the new fiber, which features varied lengths to mimic nature’s imperfections.
Since these manufacturers got the first crack at using HV100, we asked them to share what made them adopt the fiber and what their experience working with the new TENCEL™ Lyocell variation was like. Below, hear from Diamond Denim, Kipas, Neela by Sapphire and Soorty, and stay tuned for part two.
Diamond Denim

Maurizio Baldi, R&D manager
“We consider conventional TENCEL™ a key fiber to run in denim because of its sustainable production process and the soft hand-feel it gives to the fabrics. However, in specific constructions and indigo shades, we are facing some ‘issues’ with TENCEL™. We refer to the grey cast in pure indigo shades in TENCEL™-blended denim warp, and sometimes we want to develop denim soft but with a closer hand feel to classic cotton. We think TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 gives the possibility to produce denim with a more ‘natural’ indigo shade and more ‘cottonish’ hand feel. The results we got after garment wash confirmed we are on the right track.”

Neela by Sapphire

Zeeshan Ahmed, general manager, product development
“It was a good experience working with the new TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 product. The execution process went smoothly, delivering results on par with standard TENCEL™. We didn’t face any additional challenges during trials or processing—no breakage issues in spinning. What really stood out was the visual difference. HV100 showed a noticeably brighter and cleaner look, with aesthetics closely resembling cotton. Unlike conventional fabrics, particularly pure indigo shades, the color often turns dusty grey after longer washdowns. In contrast, HV100 maintains a bright, natural and classic tone like cotton, while maintaining the soft hand feel like standard TENCEL™.

Soorty
Alper Cataloglu, vice president product development fabrics
“The introduction of TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100, which mimics the texture and irregularity of natural fibers, is a game-changer for aesthetic development. We expect to achieve significantly better indigo washdowns and are already seeing promising results in our initial trials. We want to expand trying it for sulfur shades. We believe the versatility will allow us to expand our cotton-free portfolio as well as lightweight fabrics with the visually rich, authentic denim character.”

Kipas

Yücel Bayram, sales and marketing director
“At Kipas, our philosophy is rooted in the belief that true innovation begins where nature and technology intersect. This guiding principle is beautifully embodied in TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100, a next-generation fiber that redefines the essence of cotton by combining modern strength, luxurious softness and a strong commitment to sustainability.
What initially attracted us to HV100 was its ability to seamlessly merge natural irregularities with advanced fiber technology, creating fabrics with authentic textures and a unique aesthetic. Its higher indigo dye uptake enables darker, richer shades with fewer resources, making our processes more sustainable and efficient. Its exceptional softness and durability ensure superior comfort and longevity.
By merging craftsmanship with responsible innovation, TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 opens the way for richer design possibilities—proving that softness, strength and sustainability can coexist seamlessly in one timeless fabric. This aligns perfectly with our vision to push the boundaries of textile innovation while maintaining our environmental responsibilities.”
