Denim PV Spotlights Sustainability and Bold Styles
At Denim Premiere Vision in Berlin, two of the trends were high drama and low impact.
For the Fall/Winter 24-25 collections, the fair’s trend presentation showcased concepts such as contrasting whiskering effects, bold overdyes, rainbow hues, tapestry-inspired fabrics, denim-velvet hybrids and shine. Another highlight in the coming season will be sustainable innovation, including regenerative cotton, recycled cotton and cellulosic materials like TENCEL™ Lyocell. There will also be literal green jeans, with ashy, verdant hues forecast to be popular.
Many of the mills and brands presenting at the show used TENCEL™ fibers in their collections. In addition to TENCEL™’s features like softness, drape and sustainability, companies are leveraging the fibers’ other performance properties. For instance, Naveena Denim Ltd.’s Swift n’ Sway collection uses TENCEL™ for moisture management, creating wicking textiles.
The show brought together exhibitors from around the globe, including Italy, Switzerland, Türkiye, Portugal, Tunisia, China, Pakistan, Japan, India, Hong Kong, Mauritius, Morocco and Bangladesh. Participants also represented every tier of the supply chain, from denim mills and garment makers to accessory suppliers, chemical suppliers and service suppliers.
We were excited to see many of our brand and mill partners at the show, including Nudie Jeans, Diesel, Replay, Zara, Only & Sons, JJXX, Herrlicher, Big Star, Gloria Jeans and Bershka.
There was plenty to see beyond the booths. For this edition, Denim PV brought back its vintage market, a concept that initially launched in 2016. There were also workshops on pattern making and upcycling. Fendi Uomo designer and style consultant Stefano Chiassai also brought his sartorial touch to the category with an installation of high-end denim. The designer chronicled the creation of this collection in his book “BlueTailoring.”
One highlight of the show was the Pink Party, which Denim PV hosted in partnership with Isko. Held on the first night of the show near the outdoor pool at the Arena Berlin along the River Spree, the soiree gathered attendees to enjoy music, food and drinks together.
