Hard Work Ahead from SDW

The Sustainable Denim Wardrobe ‘Hardwear’ collaboration is anything but a work in progress.

Born from the inspiration of a Denim History lecture at Bluezone Munich Fabric Start and nurtured in a West Sussex design studio, the workwear wardrobe by the Lenzing Denim Team and partners is based completely around TENCEL™ Lyocell blended fabrics.

It takes inspiration from vintage garments in the ENDRIME® archive, with garment details going all the way back to the 1870s, whilst in contrast, Jeanologia applied cutting-edge laundry tech. And no detail went unnoticed: Prototypes were pattern-cut and made-up using vintage machinery at the ENDRIME® studio, while all metal trims were custom-designed by ENDRIME® and supplied by YKK. London-based specialists Blackhorse Lane Ateliers brought their tailoring innovation and heritage construction know-how.

Eight mills supplied fabrics for the Hardwear collection: A&A Textiles, Atlantic Mills, Blue Diamond, Kaihara, KG Denim, Orta Anadolu, Stella Blu and Candiani. One extra special fabric was the 2019  ITMA Sustainable Innovation-award winning fabric from Candiani – a 50/50 blend of TENCEL™ x REFIBRA™ Lyocell and recycled cotton.
