Ion Fiz Dishes on His Latest Denim Designs
Whether it’s drapey wide-leg pants or a blouse with unique button detailing or a coverall dress, Ion Fiz works wonders with a fabric long considered rigid—when it comes to this designer, denim does what he wants.
Designing since 2002, the Spanish craftsman has created haute couture denim designs that have shown at high-end fashion shows and been presented during a gala at the Guggenheim. A handful of pupils were even fortunate enough to learn how to make an haute couture dress during a workshop at the Balenciaga Museum in Spain.
Born into a family of tailors, Fiz had the opportunity to learn the art of a garment at an early age, from how it’s sketched to how patterns are created to how it’s cut and sewn.
That knowledge has taken Fiz’s designs to Fashion Weeks in Paris and Madrid, and has led him to dress elegant women all over the world in high fashion garments. And in the digital world, Fiz has amassed an Instagram following of more than 12,000 and he uses the platform to showcase both his design work and his personality.
