ISKO Highlights Winners of Denim Design Digital Prize
ISKO has taken denim awards to the web.
The Turkish denim manufacturing recently held the fourth edition of its ISKO I-SKOOL Denim Design Digital Prize, a project aimed at uncovering creativity and innovation in young talent.
As part of the award the company set up a “virtual panel” comprised of ISKO-ISKOOL’s 53,000 plus Facebook followers who got to pick the winners.
The challenge for the prize? Designers were tasked with celebrating the multitude of ways to interpret modern self-expression and think outside of traditional gender lines, as part of the theme “Genderful.”
Twenty entrants who attended the I-SKOOL’s award ceremony at BASE in Milan last July were shortlisted, and displayed their creations on social media over the last two weeks of October, and the “virtual panel” had their chance to weigh in and pick the winners.
Massimiliano Mucciarelli from the Università Iuav di Venezia (IUAV) in Venice, Italy, took first place with 28.8% of the votes for his project “Three different ones.” Mucciarelli won a Reflex Camera plus 200 meters of ISKO denim fabric for his school.
Lisa Anne Slingerland from the Amsterdam Fashion Institute took second place for “Genmanity Your Way,” and wins 50 meters of ISKO denim fabric. Manuela Barrios from Colegiatura in Medellin, Colombia, won third place for her “Distorted Identity” and wins 25 meters of ISKO denim.
“We are constantly at work with the intent to develop a large denim community, both offline and online, and reinforce responsible best practices by making an impact on the students and the entire value chain,” ISKO brand director Fabio Di Liberto, said. “We want to spark a denim revolution.”
