Lenzing Talks Series Continues to Bring Together the Textile Value Chain

The “Lenzing Talks Series,” held since 2023 to raise environmental awareness in the textile sector, will continue to shape the future of the sector with diverse cities and topics. The series recently continued for the seventh time in Istanbul, Türkiye after editions in Brazil, Mexico and Egypt.
Lenzing Talks series brings together all members and stakeholders of the textile value chain under one roof. This edition took place on Thursday, Dec. 4 at the Renaissance Istanbul Polat Bosphorus Hotel with 160 people from the textile value chain. Among the topics discussed were Lenzing’s sustainable production, traceability, certification processes, the use of cellulosic fiber in its new season collections and the technologies that will propel the industry into the future. Throughout the event, attendees—ranging from brands and manufacturers to designers and industry professionals, including the local denim community—had the opportunity to explore Lenzing’s advanced, environmentally friendly fiber solutions.
“We pursue a holistic strategy focused on value-creating growth in all our activities,” said Feridun Ayırga, Lenzing’s senior commercial director for textiles (Europe, America, Turkey). “Key elements of this strategy include increasing operational efficiency and focusing on high-profit premium products. While offering functional innovation to our customers, we focus on traceable and low-impact solutions across the value chain. Sustainable textiles are no longer a choice; they are an inevitable area of transformation. At Lenzing, we combine environmentally friendly solutions with technology and prioritize progressing alongside the industry.”

The event began with Lenzing’s global sustainability vision. It was emphasized that sustainable textiles are no longer a choice, but rather a transformational field. Şeref Fayat, president of the TOBB Ready-to-Wear and Apparel Industry Assembly, then discussed the impact of sectoral transformation on competitiveness, global supply chains and sustainability trends.

The meeting included comprehensive discussions on sustainability standards and certification processes, such as a panel discussion with human innovation designer Arzu Kaprol. Kaprol discussed her sustainable design approach and the creative processes surrounding the use of Lenzing fibers in her collections.

The event’s high-tech session focused on the technical performance of Lenzing’s fibers, including moisture management, durability, microstructures and functional advantages. A comprehensive presentation introducing Lenzing’s global innovations was also presented. Current trends in activewear, denim, home textiles and underwear were evaluated, highlighting the rising demand for cellulosic fibers in the fashion world and consumers’ increasing expectations for sustainable products. Examples of new collections developed in collaboration with brands were also shared.

Among the innovations spotlighted was TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100, a variant of our lyocell fibers that features a range of cut lengths to mimic the imperfections that exist in cultivated fibers. In a presentation, Tuncay Kilickan, head of global business development, denim at Lenzing, explained HV100’s benefits for denim product development.
