Lenzing Teams with 11 Mills to Translate Trends Using TENCEL™ and LENZING™ ECOVERO™

The TENCEL™ Denim Team regularly collaborates with our supply chain partners to execute and present fiber application concepts to the market.

Part of this initiative is our ongoing Application Innovation Collection series, which highlights the versatility of TENCEL™. We are launching the latest edition at Kingpins Amsterdam this week on April 16 to 17.

The Application Innovation Collection 25 contains up-to-date applications of TENCEL™ and LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibers focused on the trend and demand from global brands. New ideas are presented in a variety of outfits with different wash effects.

The Denim Team continues to communicate with the industry—from supply chain partners to brands and designers—to exchange marketing information and participate in trend developments. Throughout the application innovation, we try to execute the collection to fit to the trend, providing inspiration for the denim industry. We worked with 11 mills partners from the main production countries—including China, Pakistan, Vietnam and Hong Kong—to develop 22 individual articles using TENCEL™ and LENZING™ ECOVERO™ fibers.

Here, Dennis Hui, global business development manager, denim at Lenzing Hong Kong, shares more about the collection.

Carved in Blue: What trends are you seeing resonate with the market?

Dennis: I would say the denim trend is still focusing on authentic looks like the ’80s and ‘90s with marble effects but not too crazy. This is combined with simple wash effects or a rinse wash, fitting into the workwear and lifestyle silhouettes, to provide a clean and regular urban outfit for now. Wide-leg women jeans, barrel jeans, balloon cut and loose silhouettes with rigid or low stretch denim are dominating the market.

Carved in Blue: What are customers looking for in fabrics?

Dennis: Apart from the super soft hand feel for the women’s skinny pants, people are looking for cotton touch, with just a little softness but bulky and little dry hand feel. In this collection, we provide an idea and concept of the variety of Lenzing fibers with different blending ratio and applications to provide physical experiences to satisfy customer needs.

Carved in Blue: How did sustainability factor into the development of the Application Innovation Collection?

Dennis: We see the importance of sustainability, recycling and circularity in the industry. On the other side, we try to collaborate with supply chain partners to work out a better solution to satisfy customer needs as we aim to keep the denim industry moving forward.

We execute sustainable concepts with our TENCEL™ Modal with Indigo Color technology, a forever black with TENCEL™ Modal Black and also LENZING™ ECOVERO™ Black options and a recycled concept with our LENZING™ ECOVERO™ x REFIBRA™ technology. Working with our key element, TENCEL™ Lyocell in denim application, together with Matte TENCEL™ application, we aim to provide a comprehensive package for the industry.
