Slideshow: TENCEL™ Launches 2 Collections at Kingpins Show Amsterdam
Last week, the TENCEL™ Denim team participated in Kingpins Show Amsterdam.
It was a great show again with lots of inspiration and socialization for the denim community. The overall vibe was better. Along with the improvements and ideas around the sustainability topic, there have been inquiries from brands for product novelties. As an example, engineered coatings and high-shine surfaces were the topics which were requested.
From TENCEL™ fibers’ side, we’ve seen an increasing demand for wider silhouettes with authentic look but in drapey hand and premium feel. To satisfy this request, we have launched two new collections: the Regenerative Cotton x TENCEL™ Collection and the Application Innovation Collection—both of which debuted at Kingpins.
Regenerative Cotton x TENCEL™ Collection
The entire “regenerative farming” topic has become pretty popular in the supply chain, and regenerative cotton is getting nominated by many leading brands and retailers in the denim industry. This is the reason why we launched this collection, together with the current trend of rigid fabrics and loose/baggy fits. A combination of TENCEL™ with regenerative cotton would be a great mix for sustainability, durability and product features such as soft hand and luxury feel.
In collaboration with 18 denim mills around the globe, we created styles like ribcage jeans, jackets, chinos, baggy workwear and more. The garments have a wide cost range, catering to different retail price points.
Application Innovation Collection
We have teamed up with 11 denim mill partners from countries including Pakistan, India, China and Vietnam. The 20-piece collection that debuted at the show explain our latest concepts on denim application with TENCEL™ Lyocell, Modal and ECOVERO™. Brands were happy to see our new ideas with lower impact materials that reflect the current trends in denim.
Education, Inspiration & Collaboration
This time, the TENCEL™ booth was located at the Blue Area with a lot of traffic, and we gained many opportunities to exchange ideas with brands and retailers, as well as the mill partners. Lenzing CEO Stephan Sielaff visited the venue and made booth visits on the first day. We would say the market momentum is much better this year and people are with happy faces and energetic emotions for discussions and looking into new innovations ideas. Also, our collections were appreciated by customers.
Denim Dudes’ presentation highlighted the current trends. Directional collections were also represented for inspiration, such as the curated The Box area.
Sustainability was a major topic at the show and beyond. Fiber selection is still key for a better denim-making footprint, which is why TENCEL™ fibers were present at almost each collection presented. In the morning of the second day, a Denim Deal 2.0 meeting was held to update the members and explain the working scheme in depth. Kingpins’ Transformers Foundation also organized a workshop to deep dive into its impact initiatives for the participants to see how much they can engage and benefit.
In addition to Kingpins Show, we participated in The Innovation Forum in Amsterdam as a gold sponsor. The conference from April 23-24 featured speakers from fashion brands, manufacturers, technology providers and more, as well as our very own Krishna Manda and Florian Heubrandner.
