What to Do in Amsterdam This Week

The Carved in Blue team is looking forward to our time in Amsterdam this week for denim trade event Kingpins Show. This is the first in-person Kingpins since the pandemic began, and it will be good to gather again with the denim community.

During Kingpins, the United Nations Conscious Fashion and Lifestyle Network will premiere a pre-recorded talk about advancing the Sustainable Development Goals. Lucie Brigham from the United Nations Office for Partnerships will be joined by Lenzing’s Tricia Carey, Arch & Hook global brand and marketing director Neda Evena and Adriana Galijasevic, founder and CEO of Cocircular Lab.

Beyond Kingpins, there are a number of denim events taking place this week. From conferences to denim fairs, there’s plenty of opportunities for indigo lovers to learn, engage with peers and check out the latest in denim.

On April 19, Çalik Denim held its Ever Evolving Talks. Speakers from Reebok, Institute of Digital Fashion, The Bear Scouts and others discussed the metaverse, pandemic consumer behavior, what’s ahead in fashion sustainability and more. This event series is designed to provide a moment of pause to consider the future, with thought leadership from individuals both inside and outside the denim industry.

Denim Days – The Market Edition is also coming up this weekend. The fair is celebrating a return to physical events and will host shopping experiences, workshops and more. Dye your own pair of psychedelic socks or attend an art illustration exhibit. Lenzing will be sponsoring the panel talks during Denim Days, and Tricia Carey will be moderating the “Invest in our Planet” panel with speakers from Cocircular Lab, Boyish Jeans, Officina+39 and Kings of Indigo.

The Big Blue Denim Market will include merchandise from Advance Denim, Kings of Indigo, Mud Jeans, Orta and a number of other brands and mills.
