Mills Share Their Experiences with TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100, Part 4

TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 has changed the game in denim. While conventional TENCEL™ has been used in denim for decades now, these new fibers are opening up more applications for the wood-based materials.

The differentiator for TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 is variocut technology. Unlike standard TENCEL™ that is all the same exact length, the fibers are cut to varied lengths. Where conventional lyocell is silky and drapey, TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 offers a more texturized look akin to fibers like cotton or hemp. This likeness extends to appearance in the weave, dye uptake and wash down.

Dozens of mills are already using TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 in programs, and the TENCEL™ Denim team has just partnered on the second showcase collection with manufacturing partners. Here, Saitex, SM Denim Mills, Twin Dragon Marketing Inc., XDD Denim and YuanJi Denim share their experiences and takeaways from their work with TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100.

Saitex – Vietnam

Gokmen Kilic, technical and operations director

“TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 shows strong potential as a game changer as It offers good flexibility in blends, allowing development of both authentic and modern denim aesthetics. With proper process optimization, it can support more differentiated and value-added products.”

SM Denim Mills – Pakistan

Ebru Debbag, executive director business development, SM Denim Mills and founder, Indigofriends

“With TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100, SM Denim has found a rare balance: preserving the authenticity of denim while introducing a new level of softness and movement. What stands out is not just the comfort, but how naturally the fabric retains its indigo character and surface integrity. It feels like denim has evolved without losing its soul. Within Indigo Next, TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 opens a new dialogue between heritage and modernity. It’s a material step forward that feels both considered and necessary—and one that invites further exploration.”

Twin Dragon Marketing Inc. – Mexico, China

Stephanie Poon, director of merchandising and design

“TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 has been a strong success with our customers, receiving consistently positive feedback. Beyond preserving authentic indigo coloration, it addresses a key industry challenge by eliminating the slick hand feel typically associated with TENCEL™. The fiber closely mimics cotton in both appearance and performance, making it an easy, low-risk adoption for denim programs. It also enhances wash versatility and delivers a soft, peach-like hand that feels broken-in from day one. Overall, TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 bridges the gap between sustainability and authentic denim aesthetics without compromising on look or feel.”

XDD Denim – Vietnam

Nico Hong, marketing director

“XDD Textile redefines modern denim by integrating Lenzing’s TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 fiber to enhance softness. This advanced fiber technology brings lasting smoothness, cotton-touch and shape retention. The result is denim that moves naturally with the body, delivering elegance, flexibility and everyday ease. XDD Textile combines innovation and craftsmanship to create premium denim that balance performance, aesthetics and next-level tactile luxury for contemporary global lifestyle demands.”

YuanJi Denim – China

Richard Guo, R&D manager

“TENCEL™ Lyocell – HV100 not only retains the unique drape and soft touch of TENCEL™, but also avoids the luster of artificial fibers. The face side of the fabric presents the natural color of cotton fibers, while the back has a touch like cotton—hairy. Moreover, the fabric surface has a slightly vintage linen look.”
