Bast Recast Deep-Dive: Nick Clements

Bast Recast Deep-Dive: Nick Clements

Lenzing’s Bast Recast collection would not have been possible without collaboration. When we set out to create designs using hemp mixed with TENCEL™ Lyocell, the project relied on the expertise and vision of partners—from mills to marketing.

The collection—which is styled after workwear from the late 1800s—used hemp from Kingdom, fabrics from Naveena Denim Limited, TENCEL™ thread from Crafil and finishing by Jeanologia. From start to finish, Endrime’s Mohsin Sajid and Sadia Rafique oversaw the creative direction and construction.

After the collection was complete, we turned to Nick Clements to capture the garments on camera. Nick is a seasoned fashion photographer and the editor-in-chief of Men’s File magazine, which covers everything from style to cars, architecture, art and more.

For the Bast Recast photo shoot, creative and art direction by Sadia and collection creative direction by Mohsin, models Saskia and Alex were joined by denim design consultant Kelly Harrington. Shot on location in the coastal town of Saltdean, Brighton in the U.K. this March, the collection is pictured against the backdrop of a rocky beach.

In an article about Bast Recast in Men’s File, Nick wrote, “Yes, the entire collection was designed, pattern cut and sewn by Mohsin at his Endrime Studio, but even this experimental one-off group of outstanding garments demonstrate that it takes a team to make great apparel.”
