How Country Road’s Sateen Jeans Take Comfort Up a Notch

Most consumers who don Country Road’s Sateen Jean have agreed that it fits like a second skin, designed with the right balance of stretch for comfort and ease of movement with high sustainability credentials.

Taking that comfort a step further, the Australian lifestyle brand has partnered with Lenzing to introduce TENCEL™ x  REFIBRA™ Lyocell to the Sateen Jean, improving on the way the pants feel against the wearer’s skin, plus overall durability. 180123_CR_SH16_1531_PR

The collaboration marks the first time a major Australian retailer introduces denim apparel made with TENCEL™  x  REFIBRA™ in  a fabrication woven by Spanish mill Tejidos Royo.

REFIBRA™ Lyocell uses cotton scraps collected from garment production and wood pulp from responsibly managed forests to create the new TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers. REFIBRA™ gives denim a smooth and gentle feel, while also improving upon durability for everyday wear.

Country Road believes this is the perfect pairing for its brand. Not only for the improvements it offers to the quality of its jeans, but also for the element of sustainability.

“We actively look to partner with manufacturers who are driving innovation in this space,” Darren Todd, Country Road’s managing director, said. “Lenzing continues to demonstrate how we can reduce our ecological footprint and reassess waste as a resource.”

For Lenzing, TENCEL™ x REFIBRA™ Lyocell has been a step forward toward for sustainability with circularity, and Country Road’s use of it will only help fuel the change.

“After decades of weaving fabrics with TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers  we are proud to collaborate with Country Road to bring circularity to textile supply chain with REFIBRA™ Lyocell.   We believe in fabrics with values starting with sustainable fiber innovations,”  says Jose Royo from Tejidos Royo.

“Our partnership with Country Road is a milestone to the development of the newly launched REFIBRA™ branded fibers, as well as a major step forward in sustainable fashion,” Tricia Carey, Lenzing Group’s global business development director for denim, said. “While retail brands pay more attention to supply chain transparency, consumers are becoming more conscious about choosing high-quality products made with sustainable materials and green production process. Guided by the TENCEL™ brand promise of ‘Feels so right,’ we will continue to innovate and identify ways to reduce the fashion industry’s ecological footprint, while ensuring natural comfort.”
