Levi’s and Outerknown Embrace TENCEL™ x REFIBRA™ Lyocell for New Collection

Recycled cotton keeps getting cooler.

And TENCEL™ Lyocell with REFIBRA™ technology has made its way into a new collection by Levi’s Wellthread and Outerknown.

The line includes wardrobe staples like a lined trucker jacket, slim fit jeans, Western shirts and tees—each made to embrace greater sustainability.

On its website, Outerknown, says of one callout in the collection, the Type III Trucker Jacket, “We reimagined the classic Type III Trucker Jacket with a cotton/TENCEL™ x REFIBRA™ Denim blend. REFIBRA™ technology uses reclaimed cellulose from post-industrial cotton waste, which is then chemically converted into a strong, high quality fiber.”

The collection comes on the heels of an earlier partnership between Levi’s Wellthread and Outerknown launched in November 2016, which included two 511 men’s jeans, a denim Trucker and a polyester blend Sherpa Trucker.

Furthering the reduced impact of the line, the denim in the collection is made using Levi’s Water-Less system, which saves 50 percent more water than traditional dyeing methods.

More than just turning up the cool factor on more sustainable materials, Levi’s Wellthread and Outerknown are proving that sustainability can also be cost effective. Pieces in the collection range in price from $40 for tees to $185 for the Wellthread Sherpa jacket.
