Lenzing to Showcase Planet REhab Collection at Kingpins Amsterdam
When the United Nations set global Sustainable Development Goals (SGDs) in 2015, Lenzing’s Denim Team immediately set to work determining how those goals would apply to TENCEL™ and TENCEL™ x REFIBRA™ Lyocell fibers. Stepping up to the plate to expand the sustainable outcomes of using lyocell fibers in apparel, the Lenzing denim team created a toolset to be introduced at Kingpins Amsterdam April 10-11.
What resulted was the Sustainability Storybox, a compendium of contemporary best practices for casualwear wardrobes. That includes key elements of the recently-launched Planet REhab capsule collection, produced so that every step of the supply chain is designed to reduce the environmental impact.
Initially exhibited at Munich Fabric Start, Planet REhab is made possible by partnerships with global textile and apparel companies committed to reducing their impact on the environment.
Juan Carlos Gordillo designed and developed the collection around TENCEL™ and TENCEL™ x REFIBRA™ branded lyocell fabrics from Tejidos Royo. The fabrics were dyed using Recycrom® technology from Officina+39, and the resultant garments were finished by Tonello using modern earth-friendly finishing techniques. The collection will be on display at Kingpins Amsterdam, April 10 -11th.
“Planet REhab Storybox clearly showcases the inspiring denim designs that result when companies prioritize sustainability,” said Tricia Carey, Lenzing’s director of global business development for denim. “The circular nature of the Planet REhab collaboration ensures that all aspects of the clothing are rooted in sustainability—from the botanic origin of the fibers to the beauty of the natural world that inspired the designer’s garments.”
Lenzing is proud to partner with ecologically-minded production partners, and the team hopes that showcasing the Planet Rehab collection at Kingpins Amsterdam will underscore the importance of sustainable collaboration to retailers.
“When companies embrace this approach, both sustainability and creativity will flourish in the denim market,” Carey said.
