TENCEL(TM) x REFIBRA(TM) Denim Looks in Midnight Blues

TENCEL™ x REFIBRA™ presents Midnight Blues designed by Pawan Kumar, from Los Angeles, and produced at Saitex in Vietnam.

It is widely recognized that in order to realize a circular fashion industry, a new mindset needs to be adopted by the business and society at large. As the pressure to participate in the circular economy intensifies, Lenzing has strengthened its resolve to further engage with this concept.

TENCEL™ Lyocell with REFIBRA™ technology remains the first and only commercially available mass-production cellulosic fiber featuring chemical recycled content from post-industrial cotton waste. This development entered the market in 2017 following several years of rethinking the way that lyocell might be manufactured.

Following the fiber launch, Adriano Goldschmied was commissioned to create a garment collection, and so the REFIBRA™ technology- the conscious denim choice” collection was created.

In order to capitalize on the momentum of initial market success, Lenzing now presents a second collection based on the latest commercially available fabrics with TENCEL™ x REFIBRA™ Lyocell  fabrics from Artistic Denim Mills (Pakistan), Artistic Milliners (Pakistan), Barutcu (Turkey), Blue Diamond (China), Candiani (Italy), Cone Denim (Mexico), Hallotex (Spain), Orta (Turkey), Prosperity (China),  Tejidos Royo (Spain), Textil Santanderina (Spain), and Tintex (Portugal).

For this second TENCEL™ x REFIBRA™ Lyocell capsule the Lenzing Denim Team have brought together leaders in the fields of technology in the shape of Jeanologia, in production in the shape of Saitex, as well as a young award winning fashion innovator, Pawan Kumar.

Pawan, a Mauritian native, may not be the designer name on the lips on many in the denim community, but with the industry on the eve of a new circular dawn, it seemed the right thing to do by bringing a pair of fresh designer eyes to a denim collection. A catwalk debutant at New York’s Couture Fashion Week back in 2016, here he breaks new ground with this take on modern, sustainable denim in sophisticated, clean, and elevated designs.

Mindful of the need to ally TENCEL™ X REFIBRA™ Lyocell with most responsible industrial practices, Sanjeev Bahl, the founder of the Saitex factory in the Đồng Nai Province of Vietnam was approached to become a partner in this project. So we were delighted when Sanjeev agreed, knowing that the garments would be manufactured and washed at a facility recognized for its commitment to clean manufacturing.

Laundry technology again played a major part of the collection, and it was only fitting that Jeanologia was asked to provide their expertise on laser design and technology, drawing on the experience learnt when alongside the Lenzing denim team when developing the Light Sensitive Fiber technical brochure in 2017.
