Top 5 Things to Check out at BLUEZONE
Denimheads will flock to BLUEZONE next month to visit what’s hailed as the first trade show specifically dedicated to denim. There will be a wealth of watching, handling, listening and learning throughout those two days, but here are the top 5 things we can’t wait to experience.
#1. Held Sept. 3-4, BLUEZONE at Munich Fabric Start, will feature close to 100 international suppliers across two halls in the MOC (Munich Order Center), all of which will be highlighting the latest and greatest in the denim, street and sportwear markets. Out of these 100 suppliers, more than 40 of them will be denim mills showcasing TENCEL™ branded fibers, including Naveena Denim Mills and ORTA.
#2. The KEYHOUSE booth, located in Hall 5, will be a collaboration between Lenzing and the United Nations. While the UN emphasizes its ActNow campaign, Lenzing will discuss its sustainability initiatives including the plan to invest 100 million euros ($111 million) to reduce carbon emissions in both its operations and supply chain, as well as its pledge for further contributions toward helping its customers transition their businesses to a lower CO2 base.
Both Lenzing and the UN will educate attendees about the importance of reducing climate change, and Lenzing will host a demonstration during BLUEZONE showcasing how its TENCEL™ x REFIBRA™ Lyocell fibers are made using cotton scraps. Among the host of sustainable benefits that TENCEL™ x REFIBRA™ fibers support include a circular economy, transparency and traceability in the supply chain, and clean water and sanitation processes.
#3. Lenzing, Naveena Denim Mills and Chottani have collaborated for the show giveaway denim sailor bag made of TENCEL™ x REFIBRA™ Lyocell. Why a sailor bag? Because attendees are instructed to “set sail for the season and seek out your supply chain at BLUEZONE!”
#4. ORTA, meanwhile, will customize a small zipper pouch made with TENCEL™ Denim at the embroidery station in a container at the Blue Fest in front of BLUEZONE. Custom embroidered by MOUNTEK, a German distributor of embroidery machines, the bag will be the perfect conversation starter to learn more about denim sustainability.
#5. The “SusTECHability: How Trends & Technology influence Sustainability in Fashion” seminar will show how big data, artificial intelligence, sustainability and circularity are melding together to become the future of fashion. Held Sept. 3 at 11:30 a.m. at the KEYHOUSE, the six panelists will discuss everything from the newest fiber developments, to the latest technological integrations, to how we can decarbonize the textile industry.
